The American Mathematics Contest (AMC) is a world-renowned mathematics olympiad initiated by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) in 1985. It is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO), the pinnacle of all high school mathematics competitions.
The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examinations in high school mathematics. The AMC 10 is for students in grade 10 or below and the AMC 12 is for those in grade 12 or below. Completion of Algebra II is highly recommended for those placing the AMC 10 exam and Precalculus for those taking the AMC 12.
The AMC 10/12 is highly recommended by many of the Ivy Leagues and top STEM schools such as MIT, Caltech, and Stanford to their candidates, and DHS will be the first school in Saudi Arabia to officially host the AMC 10/12. The deadline for the AMC registration is December 13, 2019, with an examination charge of 45 SAR. The exam will be held on January 30, 2020, on campus before heading to the WOW trips.
