IB Program Overview
Welcome to the Dhahran High School International Baccalaureate Program.
The IB program is under the auspices of Dhahran High School within International Schools Group in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and offers the IB Diploma Program for students in their last two years of high school (grades 11 and 12 in the American curriculum).
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) is a comprehensive and rigorous two-year curriculum leading to examinations and qualifications for students in their final year of high school. Successful completion of the program will lead to the highly regarded IB Diploma, recognized by universities worldwide, as well as the Dhahran High School Diploma.
Developed in the 1960s, incorporating the best practice of several national curricula, the IB DP is the result of a deliberate compromise between the specialization required by some national systems and the breadth preferred by others.
Dhahran High School began to offer this challenging and comprehensive IB programme on the ISG Dhahran campus in September 2011
IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
The IB Learner Profile
The Learner Profile is the embodiment of the IB mission statement in ten attributes and aims to define the type of learner the IB aspires to develop in all three of its programs. It is intended to provide a focus for reflection on what is most important in IB World Schools.
IB learners strive to be:
- Risk takers
